How to use the spacebar counter
Choose a mode
No limit just counts every press. A timer of 1 to 60 seconds turns it into a spacebar speed test.
Press Space
Holding the key down does not count, only separate presses. On a phone, tap the box.
Read your speed
Presses per second, your best one-second burst, and your top 10 for each mode.
Pressed by mistake? In no-limit mode, the −1 button removes the last press.
What is a good spacebar score?
Spacebar presses per second follow roughly the same range as mouse clicks. On this site we use the same levels for both:
Presses per second
Tips to press the spacebar faster
- Use the side of your thumbShort, light taps beat full presses.
- Try two thumbsAlternating both thumbs works like butterfly clicking for the spacebar.
- Check the keyA stiff or rattling stabiliser under the spacebar slows you down.
- Rest between runsYour score drops quickly once your thumb gets tired.
Call it a spacebar counter or a spacebar clicker test: it counts every separate press of the space bar, and the timed modes turn it into a spacebar CPS test.
Why use a spacebar counter?
People use a spacebar counter for very different reasons. Gamers use it to practise jumping and spamming abilities, since many games put a key action on the space bar. Rhythm-game and typing fans use it to warm up and to compare their speed between keyboards.
It is also a quick way to check a keyboard. If the counter misses presses when you tap steadily, or adds extra presses when you press once, the space bar switch or its stabiliser may be faulty. Run the no-limit mode, tap a slow, even rhythm for twenty presses and check that the count matches.
Finally, it is a simple counter. If you need to tally something, the no-limit mode counts every press until you reset it, with the −1 button to undo a mistake.
