How to test your right click speed
Pick a duration
1 to 60 seconds, a custom time, or no limit.
Right-click the box
Only the right button counts. The menu that normally pops up is blocked while you test.
Compare both buttons
If you have a left-click score for the same duration, we show how your right click compares.
Why right click speed matters
In Minecraft the right button places blocks, so it decides how fast you can bridge, build in a fight or block-hit. In many shooters it fires an alternate weapon or aims. Most people are noticeably slower with the right button, because the middle finger gets less practice.
A right-click score within about 10–15% of your left-click score is a good target. Larger gaps usually close with a week of short practice sessions.
Right click vs left click
Left click
Index finger: stronger and better trained, so it is usually faster.
- Typical speed
- Fatigue
Right click
Middle finger: less practised, tires sooner, often 10–25% slower at first.
- Typical speed
- Fatigue
How to right click faster
Most people are two or three CPS slower on the right button, simply because the middle finger gets less practice. A few habits close the gap quickly.
Rest the middle finger on the button instead of lifting it, and click from the knuckle rather than the whole hand. Keep your wrist on the desk for short tests and lift it slightly for longer ones, so the forearm does less work. Short daily sessions of 5 to 10 seconds build speed faster than one long session, because tired fingers learn a sloppy rhythm.
If your mouse has a light right button and a heavy left button, your scores will differ for reasons that have nothing to do with skill. Compare your result with your left click on the standard CPS test using the same duration, so the comparison is fair.
