How the CPS test works

  1. Pick a duration

From 1 to 100 seconds, or type your own. The timer starts with your first click, and that click counts.

  2. Click as fast as you can

Clicks after the timer ends are ignored. The area then pauses briefly so you don’t start a new run by accident.

  3. Read your result

CPS, your best one-second burst, how steady your rhythm was, and your top 10 for that duration.

This click speed test covers every common length: a 2 second CPS test for a quick burst, a 5 second or 10 second CPS test for the classic benchmark, and 15, 30, 60 or 100 seconds to test stamina. Pick the duration above the click area.

CPS = clicks ÷ seconds. Forty clicks in five seconds is exactly 8.00 CPS. We show this calculation under every result and never round a score up.

What is a good CPS score?

There is no official scale, so this site uses the levels below. Short tests score higher than long ones: anyone can sprint for one second, few can hold that pace for sixty.

Clicks per second

Most people clicking normally with one finger land around the middle of the scale. Scores above 14 usually need butterfly or drag clicking.

Slide a finger across the button so friction triggers many clicks. Only works on some mice.

How to click faster

  1. Click from the fingerRest your wrist on the desk instead of moving the whole arm.
  2. Use crisp switchesA light mouse with a short, firm click helps; a mushy switch slows you down.
  3. Warm upDo a few 5 second runs before going for a record.
  4. Keep sessions shortFatigue lowers your score and raises the risk of strain. Stop if your wrist or forearm hurts.

Auto clickers are detected: perfectly even or impossibly fast clicks are marked and not saved to your top 10.

CPS test FAQ

What is a CPS test?

A CPS test measures how many times you can click your mouse in one second. You click as fast as you can for a set time, and your clicks are divided by the seconds.

Is 12 CPS fast?

Yes. On this site 12 CPS falls in the Butterfly Master level. It is well above what most people reach with normal one-finger clicking over five seconds.

Is 14 CPS in 1 second good?

It is a strong result, but 1 second tests are short and easy to sprint, so scores run higher than in 5 or 10 second tests. Compare like with like.

What is the highest CPS in 10 seconds?

There is no official authority that certifies click speed records, and claims vary widely. Our CPS world record page will list the claims and their sources.

Does my mouse affect my CPS?

Yes. A light mouse with crisp switches helps, and some techniques such as drag clicking only work on certain mice. Your technique matters more than the mouse.

Is using an auto clicker cheating?

On this site, yes. If your clicks are perfectly even or impossibly fast, the result is marked as an auto clicker and is not saved.

Do you change or round up my score?

No. Your score is clicks divided by seconds, and we show that calculation with every result. We never add a bonus to keep you playing.
