How to jitter click

  1. Tense your forearm

Keep your wrist off the desk and tighten your arm slightly so it starts to vibrate.

  2. Let the vibration click

Your finger rests on the button and the shaking does the clicking.

  3. Read your rhythm

The rhythm chart shows the gap before each click. Even bars mean a steady jitter.

This jitter clicking test uses the same timer and scoring as our standard CPS test, so your jitter CPS is directly comparable with your normal clicking speed.

What is a good jitter CPS?

Jitter clicking typically lands between regular clicking and butterfly clicking. Your result also tells you whether you slowed down in the second half, the usual sign of arm fatigue.

Is jitter clicking bad for your wrist?

Jitter clicking keeps your forearm tense, which can strain muscles and tendons if you do it for long. Practise in short sets, keep breaks between them, and stop if you feel pain or tingling.

Heavy jitter clicking also wears mouse switches faster. If your mouse starts double clicking, check it with the double click test.

Common jitter clicking mistakes

The most common mistake is pressing too hard. Jitter clicking works when the button can spring back between vibrations; pushing down hard stops it from resetting, so clicks are lost even though your arm is working harder.

The second is tensing the whole arm and shoulder. Only the forearm needs to be tight. A tense shoulder tires quickly and makes the vibration uneven, which shows up as a falling line in your rhythm chart. The third is moving the mouse while you click. In a game that ruins your aim, so practise keeping the pointer still inside the test area.

Finally, stop when it hurts. Jitter clicking is the technique most often linked with wrist and forearm pain. Short sessions with breaks give better scores and protect your arm.
